Nigel Kimpton, Benfleet Physiotherapy, Essex



Nigel is the proprietor of Benfleet Physiotherapy - Multi Disciplinary Clinic, heading Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Scientists, Podiatrist and Remedial Masseur. He studied at Northern Institute, Blackpool where he gained L.C.S.P (Phys) and is a State Registered Physiotherapist, registered with the Health Professionals Council (PH 75875). Nigel has been a physiotherapist for over 20 years.

He worked initially as a Sports Therapist at Abbey Clinic in Waltham Abbey, Essex - an Acute Sports Injury Orthopaedic Clinic and Physiotherapist for Woodford Green, Essex Ladies AC and Havering, Mayesbrook AC.

Nigel competed for Woodford Green AC in The British League over 800/1500m. He has also Won numerous Area and County titles. Competed for Santa Monica Track Club in Los Angeles USA in 1983/84, at 800m (1.49.0) and 1500m (3.43.0).

Upon retirement from track athletics due to injury, he commenced Triathlon, progressed to competing for GB at World Championships in Wellington, New Zealand 1994, Lausanne Switzerland 1998, Montreal Canada 1999, European Triathlon Championships in Madeira Portugal 1999 and World Du-Athlon Championships in Hobart, Australia 1994.

Nigel has been a physiotherapist for the GB Athletics Team, British Triathlon Team, Canvey Island RFC, Masters Performing Arts College, pupils of The Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst School for Dance, The Italia Conte School of Dance and numerous International and Olympic athletes and professional footballers.

Nigel’s specific interests include Bi Annual Screening and Assessment of the young athlete with comprehensive feedback to coach, parent and governing body. Over the years Nigel has provided a strong link with local Education Groups. At Benfleet physiotherapy we have an ongoing partnership with University of Essex and provide clinical experience in the MSc programme. We also provide work experience to SEEVIC college students who are studying the BTEC National Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science. We also provide clinical hours to University of Kent BSc Sports Therapy students.
