Ciaran Coyle,Physio,Benfleet,Southend-on-SeaCIARAN COYLE

Ciaran is a member of the HPC, iCSP and the CSP having qualified with a Masters in Physiotherapy obtained from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland in January 2009. Ciaran’s undergraduate Bachelor of Science Honours degree (Human Anatomy) was obtained from National University of Ireland, Galway and achieved a second class honours result. Ciaran joined Benfleet Physiotherapy in April of this year.
The research project for Ciaran’s Masters degree included a comprehensive literature review titled “the evidence to support physiotherapy intervention in the pre and post hip operative stages”.
Ciaran has a special interest in Musculoskeletal Problems, those with Neurological impairment and also working with those with Special Needs.
He has recently attended a conference on
-“Gilmores Groin” hosted by Dr. Gilmore in Harley Street, London.
Ciaran has a keen interest in Rugby Union and played for Galwegians RFC and OLBC RFC in Ireland, and reached the BUSA final while playing with RGU, Aberdeen. Ciaran has also been a volunteer physiotherapist to OLBC RFC, and Connacht Rugby who play in the Magners League. He has also played Gaelic Football and Soccer.

Sarah Jones, Physio, Benfleet, Personal Trainer,EssexSARAH JONES

Sarah is a registered physiotherapist with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health Professions Council (HPC).Sarah obtained her Sports Therapist and Fitness Training in 2000, and since that time has been an integral part of the continued development of Benfleet Physiotherapy. Sarah has completed a number of postgraduate courses and attended seminars which include;

-Osteopathic Techniques for Physiotherapists
-Assessing the Nervous System in Musculoskeletal Complaints
-Sportex and Sports Massage Association Conference
-Update on Training: Anatomy and Examination of the Knee and Shoulder Joints
-INTS Nuropulse: Three Day Training Programme
-Advanced Swiss Ball for Rehabilitation
-Swiss Ball Training

Sarah has a keen interest in a multitude of areas including the development of core Stability in a clinical setting, weight training & martial arts.

For the past 5 years Sarah has participated in Muay Thai Boxing and Kali, a Filipino Martial Arts. Sarah also has a passion for motorbike racing, being a keen rider herself. She also takes an interest in following the British & GP Championships.

Jason SherlockJASON SHERLOCK

Jason is another of our Irish recruits and is a member of the HPC, iCSP and the CSP having qualified with a Masters in Physiotherapy obtained from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland in January 2009. Jason achieved a degree in Human Physiology and Rehabilitation from Carlow IT in 2006. In his undergraduate degree Jason carried out research on the Influence of Flexibility on Power Performance.
Jason’s research project for his Masters degree was concerned with the Validity and Reliability of Neurodynamic Testing.
Jason has a special interest in Sports injuries, Injury Prevention, Strength and Conditioning and Rehabilitation.
Jason’s passion is Gaelic Football and has represented Kildare at underage level. He has also played with Allenwood  and RGU Gaelic Football teams. He has been team physiotherapist for the Offaly senior football, Louth Senior Football and Kilkenny Senior Hurling teams. Jason has also worked as a gym instructor in Ireland.

Gemma Tune, Benfllet Physiotherapist,Personal Trainer, Essex GEMMA TUNE

Gemma graduated from The University of Hertfordshire with a lst Class B.Sc(HONS) following a year at Luton University where she studied Sports Therapy.  She is a Personal Trainer and former athlete, competing at National Level before turning to Triathlon.  

INTERESTS:
Gemma is currently developing a screening program for young athletes with the aim to prevent future injury.

KAMAL JOSHI

Kamal is a member of the CSP, HPC and the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and has been working with Benfleet Physiotherapy. He obtained his Bachelor of Physiotherapy from The University of Mangalore, India in 1999 and since then has accrued a vast experience in the disciplines of physiotherapy. Kamal has worked in various locations and settings throughout his professional career including St. Andrews Hospital in Newham London and Bombay Hospital & Medical Research Centre in Bombay, India.
Kamal has attended many courses and seminars throughout his career including
            -The Cervical Spine and Upper Limb course (Society of Orthopaedic Medicine)
            -Progressive Fitness Course (American College of Sports Medicine)
            -What is Normal Movement - The Bobath Concept.


Kamal has a particular interest in Musculoskeletal injuries and also the rehabilitation of those with Cardio-Respiratory and Neurological Impairment.

SCOTT COOK

Scott has been with us since 2008. He obtained a Upper Second Class Honours degree in Sports Therapy, Health & Fitness from the University of Kent. He is currently undertaking a BSc in physiotherapy at University of Essex. Scott is also a qualified gym instructor with a level 2 YMCA.
Scott works closely with Masters, a local dance and performing arts school. At this venue Scott runs a weekly injury clinic to assess and treat dancers. Scott has also worked with Canvey Island RFC and Canvey Island Football Club. He is interested in all areas of physiotherapy, however is specifically interested in the functional sports specific rehabilitation of sports based injuries.

In his spare time Scott is a keen footballer, and a general fitness enthusiast. He also enjoys sailing and currently holds a Qualification as an assistant sailing instructor with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

MATT MCKENZIE

Matt is one of our gym instructors here at Benfleet Physiotherapy Sports and Fitness and has been working at Benfleet Physiotherapy since 2006. Matt obtained a HND in Sports Studies at Anglia Polytechnic University and is also qualified as a YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor. He also holds a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science.
A keen gym, football and fitness enthusiast himself, Matt has a specific interest in the rehabilitation of those following injuries and illness and also has a great appreciation for sport specific training programmes. Matt also oversees all aspects of weight training, bodybuilding and has worked closely with the strengthening and rehabilitation of those associated with rugby, athletics, football, race cyclists, moto-cross and martial arts.

Matt guides clients on specific fitness, and has a passion for sports nutrition and weight management.

JOE MAXWELL

Joe is another of our gym instructor staff at Benfleet Physiotherapy Sports and Fitness and has been working here since 2008. Joe has recently completed a degree in Sports Therapy, Health & Exercise, and also holds a BTEC National Diploma in Sport Science.
Joe is a keen swimmer and coach who has competed at Great Britain standard, and has also represented the British Colleges. He also has a passion for rugby and has represented the British Colleges Team while at University of Kent.

His specific interests in the gym include instructing those who wish to increase muscle mass, muscle endurance, circuit training and all round fitness. Joe also provides and oversees specific rehabilitation programmes for a variety of general and sporting injuries.

SHELLEY GLEADELL

Shelly has been at Benfleet Physiotherapy Sports and Fitness since 2008. Shelley holds numerous qualifications including
            -YMCA Level 3 Advanced Fitness Instructing
            - YMCA Level 3 Nutrition and Weight Management
            - YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor
            - C.K. Academy Core Conditioning Level 2 Attendance Certificate
            - I.T.E.C. Diploma in Reflexology (Level 3 Credit Gained)
            - I.T.E.C. Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology, Massage and Sports Injuries.
            - W.A.B.B.A Gymnastics Instructor
Shelley was a gymnast until the age of 17, following which she became interested in strength, body building and cycling which has expanded into diet, nutrition and relaxation.
Shelley takes pride in the opportunity to work with clients of different fitness levels. Shelley is currently studying for Level 4 in Cardiac Rehabilitation which should be completed by mid 2010.
